2011 Week 7 - Player of the Week - Bert Schepler

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going..."  an overused cliche' statement or a lyric to a Billy Ocean song?!

Regardless of how you interpret this statement, it stood true this weekend when the Riot found themselves missing several starters at prop, a key position in the fine tuned mechanics of the Riot Pack.
In a bind Coach Danny could have opted for shuffling more experienced players into the position, but he has been noticing the hard work and dedication of a certain player.  He decided to give Bert, a rookie, his first start. The gamble payed off.
The Force was strong in Bert this weekend, as he put on a well rounded performance in all aspects of the game, for his position: he was dominant in scrummaging, he rucked fiercely, he tackled surely, carried ball with strength and confidence, and he kept this same high intensity for all 80 minutes.  Bert was one the the reason's the Riot clinched their 2011 playoff spot.

It's for these various reasons, and for his "shapely" figure in a dress, that Bert is the Riot's Player of the Week.

Bert, may the Force be with you, from this week forward.
